I have recently accepted a new position at Electrolux Central Vacuum (formally Beam) in Webster City. I will be working as a general IT guy. The position supports both the user community and the network as well as some reporting software. I am really looking forward to this move. I have been unhappy with my position at CBE for some time. The hour-plus drive and added with some other factors made it clear to me that it was time to move on. My last day at CBE will be on Friday the 21st (my birthday). I will then start at Electrolux after the new year. Electrolux is a huge, international company. The corporate head quarters is in Sweden, but the North American Headquarters for floor cleaning products is in Bloomington, IL. Electrolux also makes appliances of all types with many name brands. Some of the largest are Frigidaire, Eureka, and Westinghouse. I hope to enjoy the day to day work more and will be making a little more money, so overall I think it should be a great change and a good Birthday present.

Most years around this time of year I’m dreading the first snow falls. I can enjoy some things in the snow but by the end of the season, I’m depressed and sick of the cold and snow. So I hope that the snow holds off as long as possible. This year was different. I was strangely looking forward to the first time the snow piled up, because that meant that I could test out my new snow plow on the ATV. So, Saturday afternoon I hooked up the plow and began with the fun. What would have been hours of back breaking work became a joyride, literally. I was surprised at the ease with which the 4-wheeler pushed the snow. The height of the plow is controlled by the winch, so with a little press of the button I can adjust how close I shave the gravel. The one problem I ran into was that eventually the use of the which wore down my dieing battery. Surprisingly, the 4-wheeler would still run even with the dead battery, but the winch and the electronic AWD both stopped working. So, I have some maintenance to do on the ATV, but overall my first time of plowing was a great success. Both the truck and the car had no problem exiting the driveway. Photo’s will follow.
