Understanding the Why?
I live my life differently than many people and I want everyone to understand why. I think that most of the people that read my blog know that I consider myself a Christian. What I believe is that everybody is tainted with sin or imperfection. It doesn’t matter the amount of sin, just that its there at all, and that there isn’t anything we can do to get rid of it. We owe a debt and we can’t even begin to pay it. So what, right? The problem is that our sin keeps us from being with God and thus keeps us out of Heaven. That’s the entire reason that Jesus came to earth. He came to live the perfect life we couldn’t. Since he didn’t have any sin to pay for, he was able to take our place and our punishment. Now we come to the craziest part of the whole thing. Jesus doesn’t want to force us to follow him, so he gives us a choice. We can accept His gift and allow him to pay for our sins, or we can choose to hold on to them.
This is where I differ from many people’s expectations. I agree that after accepting a gift like that you are changed. When someone loves you enough to sacrifice everything, you want to know more about them, you want to understand why. But it doesn’t mean you have to go to Church, or that you have to be perfect. It isn’t about what you have to do, but what you want to do. People get so caught up with what we do, but that’s just it. What we do doesn’t matter, once we accept the gift, its finished.
